A Little History
I've been making homemade soap for over 20 years. For the past 10 years
Cat Dreams has supported animal rescue charities. The name "Cat Dreams Soaps"
came about when my dear departed friend, Oliver, kept me company by curling up on the kitchen
chair every time I performed the magic of saponification.
A NOTE ON GLYCERINE AND LYE
Glycerine,
produced during the saponifaction process, remains in handmade soap. It is very
soothing. Unlike in hand crafted soap, commercial soap manufactures remove
the glycrine to be sold as a separate product.
All soap is made with lye (sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide).
My soaps are superfatted so that there is no lye remaining in the
finished soap.
